This site monitors the development of the Phnom Penh International Aiport and the possible future forced eviction of communities located around its grounds. Hundreds of families may be affected, and evictions may take place prior to 21st ASEAN Summit and the 7th East Asia Summit being held in Phnom Penh from November 18 to 20, 2012. Little relevant information has been forthcoming thus far about if and how families would be evicted. It is not clear that International Financial Corporation standards have been applied, although the IFC is funding development of the airport. Crucially, it appears the IFC did not reach out to local affected community “no less than 30 days prior to project consideration by the IFC Board of Directors”, and no Resettlement Action Plan has been disclosed.
